Each month, we will spotlight one of our incredible volunteers who generously dedicate their time to helping women escape sexual exploitation.Thank you for everything you do; we couldn't have done it without you.Sheila, our Acting Board Chair and a founding member of Rising Angels has been a driving force since the charity's inception in 2015. Her unwavering commitment and dedication inspire us all.Sheila wants to be part of this organization because every woman who has had her power and autonomy robbed deserves to be supported and encouraged and to have a second chance to live a full and rewarding life. Sheila feels blessed to be part of a community that is bringing healing to survivors and making a lasting difference in their lives. She believes one of the essential and unique features of Rising Angels’ service to survivors is that there are no restrictions on care – support is provided for as long as the survivor chooses to be part of the program. To learn more about Rising Angels, please visit www.risingangel.net #MakeADifference #humantraffickingawareness #supportforsurvivors #stophumantrafficking

“Why don’t you want to file a legal complaint?”The journey to justice for a survivor of sexual and gender-based violence, particularly through traditional legal pathways, is marked by several challenges, including:👉🏽 Social stigma and a lack of trust;👉🏽 Long-drawn, complex, mostly unfamiliar proceedings that often take away the agency of individuals;👉🏽 Repeatedly needing to recount traumatic events in detail, with proceedings depending on survivors’ ability to describe events that they may not want to or be able to remember fully;👉🏽 Lack of psycho-social support from a system that exacerbates trauma in the pursuit of justice. Tune into the complete episode to hear about retraumatisation of victims in the journey to justice, and the need for survivor-centric, trauma-informed services that prioritise survivors’ well-being and agency. Link to the episode in comments. If the cause of supporting women and queer survivors of #SGBV speaks to you, please consider donating to our ongoing fundraiser which seeks to provide survivors with access to healing services and livelihood opportunities: https://lnkd.in/dg4i_-zu #OneFutureCollective #nurturingradicalkindness #supportingsurvivors #fundraiser

From Djirra- Sharing stories, finding solutions, please see the below link to support: Help Aboriginal women escaping family violenceAustralia is facing a national crisis of violence against women. Here in Victoria, Aboriginal women are 45 times more likely to experience family violence than other women. And the number of Aboriginal women seeking support continues to rise – Djirra experienced a 22% surge in demand in the first three months of this year alone. While violence against Aboriginal women is increasing, and we are already devastatingly over-represented in family and sexual violence statistics, our frontline services and community-led solutions remain critically underfunded. This is why we URGENTLY need your help with a tax-deductible donation this end of financial yearhttps://lnkd.in/gmS2XXbp

We're incredibly proud to be partnered with Nexus and the DSA Helpline to support older victim-survivors in Northern Ireland. With over 100,000 older people in Northern Ireland experiencing abuse, we're glad to have developed this important partnership to tackle this abuse.Veronica Gray, Deputy CEO of Hourglass said: "Our own research tells us that the abuse and neglect of older people is on the rise. Without specialist services, older people will continue to suffer in silence, hence this unique partnership with the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Helpline."Read more about this new partnership: https://lnkd.in/ePSs2PKV#helpline #partnership #saferageing #domesticabusehelpline #domesticabusesupport #domesticabuse #abuseawareness #northernireland #charity #saferageingsociety
